Digital Storybooks
Here is a sample digital storybook of Shelly Moore Thomas’s wonderful book Good Night, Good Knight. I scanned the pages using a color flatbed scanner and then put the images into iMovie (via iPhoto). With the Ken Burns Effect, I panned from image to image, creating the effect seen on Magic Schoolbus and other similar shows. You can either record your voice and put it all together or the student (or teacher) can just read from the book while the images play in the background. Sound effects and music can also be added for a magical effect. All books are copyrighted and these types of projects should only be used in the classroom setting. I use the projects for speaking/listening classes in order to have students develop their pacing and stressing of words and sentences when doing public speaking.
